Art: The Study of Light

Ray of light on wall.
Art is the science of light moving over the surface of objects; refracting, reflecting, beautifully bouncing light.
Sunset in room with blinds.
The study of vision and the observation of how light moves and changes form the core of any art and design curriculum, along with color theory, composition, and perspective.

So the next time someone at a cocktail party tries to tell you that "all art is subjective" to justify their poor taste in art, or maybe just to be a contrary know-it-all, refer them to me. I'll take them to school.

Bus stop reflection.
What kind of art do you like?

For fellow art fans, I have a board for that: http://pinterest.com/mariedoucette/art/.
